Native Plants for Winter Interest

Compiled by Kathy Olson for Wachusett Garden Club, March 2024.
You can brighten Winter with Native Plantings.
Though they may appear initially barren, native trees, shrubs, and plants possess an inherent beauty that enriches our landscapes while also serving as vital habitats for wildlife.
Amidst the myriad choices available, you may already have some native flora in your garden, providing a solid foundation upon which to build. Whether augmenting existing natives or gradually transitioning from non-native species, embracing indigenous plants offers numerous advantages.
Native species often boast resilience against pests and diseases, making them easier to cultivate and maintain.
By incorporating these plants into your landscape, you not only enhance its aesthetic appeal but also contribute to the preservation of local ecosystems.
