WACHUSETT GARDEN CLUB

Saturday, August 5th 2023

We joined Dan Wilder, Director of Applied Ecology and renowned horticulturist, for a captivating journey through the Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary, which is set against the picturesque backdrop of Wales, Massachusetts.
Dan Wilder's illustrious career spans over 15 years and has been dedicated to unraveling the secrets of native plants and their intricate ecosystems. As a co-author of the acclaimed work "Native Plants for New England Gardens" alongside Mark Richardson, Dan brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with us on the tour.
In this enlightening session, Dan's expertise was aimed at a singular goal -  describing the nurturing of  woodlands and other landscapes that serve as havens for endangered species of both flora and fauna. We delved into the art of cultivating flourishing forests, where the delicate balance of life is meticulously preserved and sustained. We were so glad to have this opportunity to explore the wonders of ecology and especially thankful that Dan donated his Saturday morning to show us around the sanctuary .
